A CS:GO 1v1 is an interesting addition if you’re bored with standard competitive 5v5 mode. It’s becoming more and more popular lately as it refines your skills and provides a huge dose of adrenaline that you won’t find anywhere else.

If you don’t know how to set up such a match with no bots, don’t worry. In this guide we will explain everything exactly step by step.

What’s more, besides 1v1 commands, config and maps, you’ll also find out why it’s worth playing this kind of game and what websites support tournaments in 1 vs 1 mode.

How to 1v1 in CS:GO?

There are several ways to create a 1 vs 1 game. The way we present is based on creating a private server. This is the fastest method, which takes no more than 2 minutes.

All you have to do is download one of the maps, start the match and then configure config or add commands in the console. Even a total novice can handle it!

Tip: 1v1 on CS:GO tournament maps can take too long. That's why you should get a custom aim map.

Step 1. Download 1v1 maps

The first step is to choose the map on which you want to fight a duel with your friend. You can skip this step if you want to play on standard tournament maps such as de_mirage or de_train.

Here are the best CS:GO 1v1 maps:

In CS:GO, you can download maps using the Steam Workshop. In fact, all you have to do is select the map and click the “Subscribe” button.

Good to know: Once subscribed, the map will automatically be added to your account. If you don't see it in the map list, you have to restart the game.

Step 2. Start a 1v1 server

The next step to create a 1v1 game is to launch a private server which you and your friend can join. Creating a server looks similar to starting a game with bots. The only difference is that you will need one of the downloaded maps and additional commands.

However, if you don’t want to host the server yourself, you can use ready-made solutions and tournament platforms.

Good to know: There are several trusted websites that offer the creation of free 1v1 gameplay on online servers. We will list them in the penultimate part of this guide.

Here is how to start a 1v1 server:

Step 1: Join the lobby as if you wanted to start a competitive match.

Step 2: At the top, choose “Workshop Maps” instead of “Official Matchmaking”.

Step 3: Invite your opponent to the Lobby.

Step 4: Select the aim map you want to play on.

Step 5: Click the green “GO” button at the bottom.

Step 6: As the game mode, choose “Casual” or “Competitive” and click “GO”.

Step 3. Use 1v1 commands

The last step to set up a private CS:GO 1v1 server is to add the appropriate commands. These will change the gameplay mode and configure the most important settings, such as number of rounds, free kevlar, round time and freeze-time.

Good to know: The list of these commands contains nearly 25 items. It is too long to paste it into the console at one time. That's why we divided this list into two parts: required commands and additional commands.

Additionally, these commands will kick bots and end warmup. To use them, open the console by clicking the ~ key.

Here are the required CS:GO 1v1 commands:

mp_warmup_end; mp_weapons_allow_map_placed "1"; mp_roundtime "2"; mp_roundtime_defuse "2"; mp_buytime "5"; mp_freezetime "3"; mp_round_restart_delay "5"; mp_maxrounds "16"; mp_halftime "1"; mp_match_can_clinch "1"; bot_kick all; mp_restartgame "3"

Tip: If you want to save time, click here to download 1v1 config. After the download, upload it to the Steam folder with your config, reboot the game, and enter this command - exec config_1v1.

Here are additional CS:GO 1v1 commands:

mp_overtime_enable "0"; mp_startmoney "16000"; mp_t_default_primary "weapon_ak47"; mp_t_default_secondary "weapon_p250"; mp_ct_default_primary "weapon_ak47"; mp_ct_default_secondary "weapon_p250"; mp_restartgame "3"

Tip: Enter the sv_cheats 0 command after the game starts. Otherwise your friend may use unfair commands such as r_drawothermodels 2, which turns on wallhack.

The advantages of playing CS:GO 1v1

The practical part is behind us. You already know, how to 1v1 in CS:GO in a very simple way. If you’ve just started out in CS:GO, you may not be sure about this type of gameplay. This is completely understandable.

As you probably know, CS:GO is a team game. It’s based on competitive 5v5 mode, where teams fight against each other and their main goal is to plant or disarm a bomb. So why play 1v1?

Here are the main advantages of playing 1v1 matches:

Aiming: Both individual and team skills are important in Counter-Strike. You can practice the first one on your own, without any friends. One of the proven ways to improve your aim skills is to use aim maps.

Clutch: Winning an important clutch can make a big difference. That’s why everyone should practice these scenarios. While some players feel good about it, others even hate it. If you belong to the other group, definitely try 1v1.

Adrenaline: Moments when you have to face your opponent on your own cause the adrenaline to increase. Then you can’t rely on other people and it’s up to you to win the match. If you love a higher heart rate and adrenaline, 1v1 games may interest you.

Respect: Sometimes it happens that you want to show off in front of your friends or arouse respect for them. It’s hard to find a better way than to win 1v1 on the aim server – especially if you completely dominate your opponent.

Websites with CS:GO 1v1 tournaments

In the section explaining how to start the server, we mentioned that you don’t necessarily have to host the server yourself.

Why? Because there are at least a few people in the world who came up with the brilliant idea of creating tournament platforms. With their help, you can start 1v1 gameplay on an online server without having to configure commands and host the server.

Here are the most popular CS:GO 1v1 websites:

FACEIT: The largest competitive gaming platform for online PvP gamers with more than eight million users.

Challengermode: The gaming platform is focused on delivering the best possible gaming experience.

PVPRO: A mid-size platform offering dozens of tournaments every day with interesting prizes.

WePlay!: A new CS:GO tournament platform with daily tournaments that is currently in beta.
